Do you often find your anger flaring due to schedule disruption? Family not keeping with the plan? Husband and children messing with your check list?
The problem with schedule disruption
When Kate’s children were small, she often experienced frequent bursts of temper at them for:
- Refusing to use the potty during training
- Getting out of bed for repeated drinks of water
- Refusing to eat. Like ever.
- Any time in general that they messed up her schedule by being…well…kids.
Kate struggled with anger through the middle school years.
When the kids forgot homework or fought with each other. The husband kinda got on her nerves too. Especially upon returning from business trips, throwing a monkey wrench in the family routine (which she’d established in his absence as a survival instinct).
“This is how we do it now”, Kate’s declaration setting the scene for World War Three.
The kids grew into teenagers, and Kate became more mellow – except when dealing with “ye old strong-willed ones”.
Thus, the clash of wills on a nightly basis resulted in major blowouts.
