Do you long for a clutter-free mind? A couple of years ago the media covered a story about a woman texting while walking in a shopping mall. She fell right into a fountain because she wasn’t paying attention to where she was going.
While no one wants to get caught texting their way into a pool of water, we moms have to admit – we’re living in a distracted generation.
We’re on our phones day and night. Whether it’s social media, email, or Words With Friends, our phones take up our time like never before.

Michael Hyatt, virtual mentor, successful businessman, and author of Shave 10 hours off your work week, says,
In a world of distraction and competing demands, mental focus is a scarce commodity. If you want more of it, you will have to be intentional about getting it.
I’m inclined to agree. In my goal setting post, called, Why we fail to achieve goals and how to rock your year I listed three ways to cut distraction and reach goals.
1.) Write 7 strong goals (I stole that from Michael Hyatt, by the way).
2.) Cut 3 tasks from 2018
3.) Stop questioning decisions
While all three will be addressed, the 31 Days to a Clutter-free Mind Challenge focuses mainly on number two: cut 3 tasks from 2019.
Why?
Because we simply can’t decide on a whim what to cut from our to-do list.
But if we give it some thought and a month to establish new habits, our minds will feel less cluttered and we’ll have more energy for the things we really want to do!
Signs you need a clutter-free mind
I’ve felt so conflicted and pressured with too much on my to-do list. I’ve prayed and sought direction for what to cut from my tasks.
And I didn’t get relief until sitting down and actually working through the steps I share in the challenge.
Once I finished cutting my tasks, I felt such a load off my mind I just had to share it!
Dear mom, I know if you put a little bit of work into this challenge, you will feel so much better about your time.
Already I feel less stressed and more confident in my decisions and the time I’m spending with family and friends.
Do you ever miss staring off into space?
Seriously. Do kids do that anymore? Is everyone on the internet 24/7 or is it just my imagination?
Whatever happened to the days of front porch sitting? When was the last time you went sightseeing without taking 89 pictures with your iphone?
What if we slowed down a bit and cut some things that hurt a bit – but didn’t actually draw blood?
What if we got up in the morning and opened our Bibles without a single glance at our phones?
What if we didn’t check Facebook for a whole day?
{Gasp!}
