Have you ever been so tired or overwhelmed that you didn’t know how to pray? Jumbled thoughts rolling around like a million scattered puzzle pieces inside your brain?
Mothering is hard work, and there are no easy answers – no manuals or “cheat cheats”.
>>The toddler mom just wants them to eat breakfast without throwing a fit and splattering food up the wall.
>>The pre-school mom longs for the day her kid actually listens and obeys the first time she calls.
>>Elementary-school mom is sick to death of kids forgetting homework until at 9:00 at night (and then forgetting to take said homework to school the next day).
>>So is middle-school mom – with a couple of science projects and puberty tossed in for good measure.
>>High school mom – “Can’t someone else teach my kid how to drive?” and “Why can’t they just make curfew without me having to ground them for the zillionth time?!”
>>And then, there are the moms like me with grown children – some in the nest/some out/some returning even though they’ve been out/grandchildren/caregiving/sandwich generation-ing.
{Hear me well, moms: there is no “magical” season of life. All seasons are busy, all seasons are hard, yet all are full of JOY – if you look for it!}

Life is busy, the plates are spinning, and you’re not firing on all cylinders. You’re fighting for that quiet time each day but frankly, it’s hit and miss sometimes.
And so, when you do sit down to pray (quite possibly in the bathroom for a quick sec), what do you say?
“Lord help me” , “Just let me make it through this day, or “Jesus, TAKE THE WHEEL!!!” are good starters.
He hears every prayer even if you only have that little tiny mustard-seed faith.
Or, you can try this:
6 Powerful Scripture Prayers for the Overwhelmed Mom
I know you are at the end of your rope some days. I know you feel as if you can’t hold it together one more second. Do you know that God has provided everything we need for those moments?
It’s true. These Scripture prayers in every day “mom” language are taken from the ESV and The Message to craft a powerful prayer for you to print and use every day, as often as needed.

The prayers begin with praise
Praise to our Almighty God, in Whom is all power and glory and Who will impart wisdom and strength to all who ask.
God’s Word clearly says He dwells in our praises. When we praise Him, we acknowledge Who He is, His presence, and His power. This sets the stage for our pleas – but we must first get in the proper frame of mind.
The prayers focus on our weakness as moms
Let’s face it – we have a tendency to feel overwhelmed, as if we cannot possibly handle this plate that’s been dealt us.
The prayers zero in on what God can and will do through us
If we plug our faith into the outlet of God’s power – with God, ALL things are possible!
My prayer is that you will use this tool and make it your own daily prayer when you feel you have nothing left.
For truly, we don’t. But God seeks the weak of this world to accomplish His great power.
And mom – that means God seeks to use you.
Are you willing?

Featured post from last week’s Link up!
Starting this week, I’m featuring just one post (instead of three) from the Tuesday Talk Link Up.
Elizabeth touched my heart with her openly honest post called “10 Things I DON’T wish I’d done differently.
One thing in particular reminded me of my years fighting the Sunday Morning Mayhem in the rush for church. More often than not, disgruntled attitudes and snippy remarks prevailed. And that was just between my husband and I! I recall clearing the room one Sunday , kids scattering and dashing for cover as we had it out right there in the hallway in the midst of arranging little-girl-curls and straightening tights.
But somehow, we managed to convey the importance of church – maybe it was because our kids saw our imperfections first-hand and yet how we persevered each Lord’s Day anyway. Today, each of our children are actively involved in church ministry, and I can’t help but believe that it’s because we fought the Sunday Morning Mayhem.
This is only one of the many good things Elizabeth chose for her children, and I encourage you to hop on over and read the rest – she has a delightful way of connecting with the reader using a sense of humor and a down-to-earth approach!
“Still, now that my girls are older, I’m not sure there’s any time my family members like each other less than we do on Sunday mornings at about 8:15. My husband is trying to get two minutes of bathroom time to brush his teeth before he backs the van out of the garage because we DO NOT HAVE TIME PEOPLE to wait for that to happen once we’re all in the van, by the grace of God. Meanwhile, I’m running around yelling that we have to leave in two minutes and my girls are being unhappy with their hair and everyone just wants to be back in bed, for crying out loud. In this mood, we set off for church. Because we will not offer sacrifices to the Lord our God that cost us nothing (see 2 Samuel 24:24).”

Can’t wait to see these 6 scriptures. God’s definitely speaking to me about prayer this morning, Ruthie. I just did a bible study on it for my quiet time. I love your point about faith! Start with praise for who He is and remember NOTHING is impossible.
Amen, Ruthie. Mothering is hard work and covering it with prayer is essential. His grace is sufficient everyday. Thanks for this and for hosting the party. Blessings!!
You always have wise, life-giving words, friend! I always enjoy seeing you at the Par-Tay! Thanks for this and for stopping by!
Oh my goodness, Ruthie! Thank you SO much for this sweet honor! I am so humbled and delighted by your kind words about my little list. And I LOVE, well, everything you’ve got going on here. I want to sign up for it all…and will as soon as I deal with Mt. Laundry waiting to be scaled on the floor next to me. 😉 Thank you again so much, and I look forward to digging into all the treasures you have here. The blessing of the Lord be on you!
You’re so very welcome, friend! And no worries – everything will still be waiting for you tomorrow – just like Mt. Laundry. 😉 Really, all you need to do is sign up for the prayers and you get two other goodies besides them, and you will be set for the newsletter. If you’re interested in MTO, just say the word and I’ll get you in (I know somebody, heh, heh)! Thanks for sharing your wisdom so freely here with us today! 🙂
My most constant prayer is a simple one — “Dear Jesus, give me patience!”. I’ve discovered that Christ knows my struggles all too well and that when I’m low on patience, that I tend to come unhinge so much more. A simple need to be reminded to calm down often helps me in so many ways.
And that is exactly what you do need. I’m so glad we have the privilege of prayer and can express whatever we think or feel to our Father when and wherever we are! It’s not hard and it doesn’t have to be technical or difficult to pray. You’re right – we get caught up in the heat of the moment so many times, and that makes things escalate. Love hearing from you, Stephanie! 🙂
