Each year I search for the perfect Advent devotional to use throughout the Christmas season. I love centering my mind on nuggets of truth surrounding Christ’s birth – truths I’ve never considered before. Questions, like “Why did God announce Christ’s birth to Shepherds”, and the analogy of sheer darkness with the blinding light of the angel’s announcement. Or why faithful old Elizabeth had to wait until she was stooped with age before having a child of her own – and then rejoicing with her pregnant, teenage cousin (who wasn’t married).
The wonder of God’s intricate, yet simple, gospel message comes alive for me each Christmas.
But it wasn’t always so. There was a time in life when I didn’t savor the season so much. The busy-ness of motherhood left me wanting in the spiritual department. What’s more – some years I didn’t even try.
I just wanted to corral my kids through the season as best I could. So my devotional life suffered while I served in church and ran Christmas programs for our Christian school.
Ironic, isn’t it?
How busy moms can find time for an Advent devotional
Sound familiar? Are you tired of scrambling for devotional time? Do the kids come running every time you settle in with the Word? Boy, do I feel ya, mama. I lived that dream (and got mad plenty of times for being interrupted during MY DEVOTIONS, for heaven’s sake).

Here’s an excerpt of one of the Power-Packed Scripture prayers from our Advent Devotional series from TruthBytes 4 Moms:
Father, I praise You for making a perfect way to redeem my soul. Thank you for allowing humanity to be a part of Your perfect plan, knowing we would flub it up. Lord, I am full of flaws, even though I’m trying to be the mom You called me to be. But thank you for covering my sin. And not only that – thank you that I have Your indwelling Spirit. Thank you that I can tap into Your wisdom, counsel, and might for my daily role in motherhood. Equip me for the task today, and help me to make sound decisions by your counsel. Amen.
Dear mom, don’t wait any longer to forage in God’s Word – even if it’s just in daily nuggets. Celebrate the wonder of Christ with us this Christmas!
Oh, I love how you are digging into the season and encouraging others to do the same!
Hi Kristi! I just love Advent season, don’t you? Thank you so much for popping in! 🙂
