Last week I shared my new prayer strategy with a friend over lunch.
It’s nothing fancy. People have been doing it for hundreds of years.
But when I described its powerful effect not only on my life, but other moms as well, my friend nearly leaped out of her Cracker Barrel chair.
“I’m in. Count me in. I’m doing this. Let’s do it!”
That’s a whole lotta commitment right there, girlfriend.

You’ve heard of the C25K running programs?
Last week on my morning run (having downloaded a C25K ap for a 5K) I literally stopped mid-stride and thought, “I’ve been practicing Couch to Knee prayer!“
Sister, I have my own C2K program going on!
In times past, I’ve knelt by my bed when distressed, praying aloud, pouring my guts out.
And I always came away refreshed, no matter the unchanged circumstances.
So last month I decided to commit to knee prayer five days a week.
Knee prayer is the one breakthrough strategy that revives my War Room
1.) I’ve lots to pray about. Family, friends, blog readers, and more.
2.) I can’t cover them all in five minutes.
3.) I’m focused. When I’m on my knees, I’m uncomfortable, thus awake and aware of what I’m doing (as opposed to on my comfie couch, nursing my coffee and letting my mind wander).
4.) I want to grow my relationship with God to be more like Him and less like myself.
5.) I want time with God to take priority over anyone and anything else, no matter how busy I am, because
6.) I can do nothing without God.
7.) God desires fellowship with me and longs to dwell in my praises.
8.) Daniel knelt in prayer and God saved him IN the lion’s den (note: he had to still go in, but God protected him)
9.) There’s a reason the spiritual greats of yesteryear spent knee time! It works!
Those are my reasons for knee prayer. Maybe you have more. But if you’ve become disillusioned with your War Room and gotten stuck or distracted along the way, I promise you, knee prayer will jump-start that spark you first had after watching the movie.
Dear mom, knee prayer is the one breakthrough strategy that will revive your War Room today!
In the month of September, I created a special challenge for the month of September, in order to keep myself and others accountable.
Details of the C2K program
- The C2K challenge runs for 30 days.
- All members receive one email per week for the challenge, packed with encouragement and Scripture prayers for each day.
- Members commit to knee prayer five days each week
- Members determine the amount of time spent each day in knee prayer (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 minutes, etc.-I do 20-30)
- Members are added to my regular Rear Release Regroup {dot} com newsletter ( current subscribers subscriptions aren’t doubled), receiving 1-2 updates per week from my blog (loaded with encouragement, humor, and actionable advice on parenting, marriage, and Christian living)
- Members have the option to join the C2K Facebook group, in order to ask for prayer, or share a praise! (These details will be in your first newsletter, so be sure to add this email to your contacts and open each one as it comes!)
- Members may send special requests for me to cover during my C2K time
As my thank you for joining, members receive my 6 Powerful Scripture Prayers for the Overwhelmed Mom upon completing email confirmation.
Are you ready for a deeper, more powerful prayer life? Are you ready for a breakthrough strategy that will revive your War Room today?
In the words of my Cracker Barrel Buddy,
“Let’s do this!”

This is awesome, Ruthie! Count me in!! I completely agree. Thanks for inspiring us to drop to our knees and pray!
Deb, this one is on God so thank Him, not me! LOL. I already had enough on my plate but He showed me some of that has to go because this is THE most important work. Just like the Chambers quote! So glad to have you aboard! 🙂
Can’t wait to start this! I really want to improve my prayer life! 🙂
So excited to have you aboard, my sweet mama friend! Maybe you could share it with your friends at church who will be attending the gathering next Friday!
Gotta share this testimony: So I signed up for C2K, got all my stuff in gear…and THEN realized that *the day this starts* our family is heading away for the weekend to visit my father-in-law. So right at the get-go the enemy thinks he’s gonna throw in a stumbling block.
Not to be deterred, dear friend! Just asking for a little extra prayer over the weekend as I employ a ‘plan B’ strategy!
I’m confident this month will bear much fruit…
Thanks for putting this in action, dear Ruthie!!!
It’s ok! You’ll sneak it in. Can’t wait to see how you creatively decide to do that! And if you don’t, you can pick up next week. Don’t fret, my sweet, dear friend! There’s grace for Plan B too!
