It’s time for Five Minute Friday over on Kate Motaung’s blog! Set the timer, write for five minutes, and post! Today’s word prompt: rise.
The alarm didn’t go off at 6:30 this morning.
I overslept! My daughter would be late for work because I wasn’t there on time to babysit Sawyer (number one grandson)!
I ran downstairs, aware that there were a number of people in the house as I frantically jerked on my socks with my robe. I tried so hard to move faster, but I quickly became aware that these people were here for me! It was my surprise birthday party from Jim (hubs) and they were all hiding in our bedroom – with a mystery present!
At 7:00 AM. In the morning.
“I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!!” I yelled, running towards the door.
My mother got up to hug me goodbye (I was only going across town).
My mother-in-law also hugged me goodbye (why were they slowing me down?).
I dashed out the door, jumped into the 1954 Studebaker, and realized the whole family was already in the car. Grandpa was at the wheel, grandma in her Sunday best, complete with hat!
“I can’t do this, I have to drive!” I jumped out and into my own vehicle.
The alarm went off at 6:30 this morning.
It was all a dream – WHAT A RELIEF!!!
Time to rise!
P.S. This dream was a true story – in that I had this actual dream this morning. It was a no brainer when I saw the topic!

Ruthie, I can so relate to your dream. You do deserve a birthday party…lol. I am your neighbor at Five Minute Friday. Blessings Diana
Crazy, right? It was so real, I was actually getting worked up over it in my sleep! Ugh! Thanks for stopping by, neighbor!
What a funny story! It's so true though how easy it is to get so busy we can rush past the people we love most in this world. At least I'm guilty of that anyway. Thanks for sharing!
It was pretty crazy! And yes, I'm guilty of that too – maybe that was a subliminal message from God to slow down and notice those right in front of me! 😉 Thanks for your comment!
Oh, my! This sounds like a stressful dream! Although, hearing you speak of having your Mom and mother-in-law there made me miss my loved ones. I miss the days when all 4 parents would be in our home visiting us at once! Oh, the laughs and fun times we had! Now, Mom and Dad are gone, and my in-laws are elderly and in poor health. I miss Mom and Dad desperately…so, see your dream served a good purpose and took me back to happy days gone by! Have a happy Memorial day, and God bless! 🙂
Yes it's so sad to lose our parents or see them in ill health. My parents have really aged in the past 5 years due to many health crises, and now they live in an apartment adjoining my home. I miss the old days when they were young and strong. But we are thankful for good memories, and for who we have now. You have a great weekend as well, Cheryl!
