Every three months I post a Currently update to give a glimpse of a day in the life of little ole’ me!
Currently, I am
Babysitting: my two-month-old granddaughter (Baby Cakes) and she loves to be held. Like LOVES it. As in: “Do not put me down, Gigi.” (Of course, I’ve no problem obliging.)
Rocking: Baby Cakes in Papaw’s easy chair.
Preparing: (mentally – since I am currently holding Baby Cakes) for a trip to D.C. with the Mister. He has work, and I’m running away for a few days to relax and create an e-book full of Power-Packed Pillar Prayers, originating from my Mom Time Out Facebook group.
Wondering: How my Ohio girl (soon-to-be-college-grad) is feeling today. She was on a NyQuil high last night (which is really a low, since she was knocking herself out in order to sleep). Poor thing has had senioritis for 6 months. Hang in there babe, it’s almost over!
Watching: The Barefoot Contessa make Moroccan Stew with some actress from Catch Me If You Can.
Texting: My Tennessee son to see how 5:30 AM breakfast went this morning. He helps serve at the homeless shelter with several friends from church.
Saying: “Hewwo” to Baby Cakes, who decided to raise up with her whole body and look me straight in the eye. (So cute!)
Changing: Her diaper before she goes back to sleep. In her book, sleeping is second only to being held – it’s a bad day if she only gets 22 hours. Seriously.
Kissing: Tiny little baby feet with little round rolls just above the ankles. Such a sweetie pie.
Swinging: In the front porch swing, enjoying an unusually warm spring day. 82 degrees in West Virginia. (We had snow 2 weeks ago.)
Watching: My baby girl (soon to be 20 next month) hammock between two trees in the front yard. She held a photo shoot for a friend’s senior pictures this morning. She is so delightfully independent and creative. Of course, she’s been that way since she was two. It wasn’t nearly as delightful then.
Listening: To Baby Cakes hiccup for the hundredth time today. Seriously. One.Hundredth.Time.
Waiting: For the Little Mama to swing by after work with the Tiny Tornado. Can’t wait to hear what he got into with his Mimi today. (We grannies split time for now so we don’t have to keep both the Tornado and Baby Cakes. We ain’t as young as we used to be…)
Thanking: The Lord for so many arrows in our quiver. Growing up an only child, I always dreamed of having a large family. 4 kids, 1 son-in-law, and 2 babies later, we’ve only just begun!
Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift? The fruit of the womb is his generous legacy?
Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! ~Psalm 127:3-4
