It’s time for Five Minute Friday over on Katemotaung’s blog! Set the timer, write for five minutes, and post! Today’s word prompt: world.
GO.
Women are entering barber shops for a straight blade shave. It’s the new rage.
“It’s like the goal is to eliminate gender in the world”, remarked my husband.
I wonder…
I have no qualm with a woman wanting no hair on her face. I’d like to have a little less myself. Hormones and the aging process have a tendency to do that.
But it got me to thinking about a larger problem.
Women looking like men, men changing into women.
The Bruce Jenners of the world have become the Caitlyn Jenners and we are all ok with that.
Or are we?
Political correctness is where it’s at these days.
And so, we Christians stuff our opinions down and walk on with a smile pasted on our lips.
We don’t want to rock the boat. After all, Jesus told us to love.
“You are in the world, but you are not of the world.”
How can we be salt and light if we don’t speak out? If we don’t proclaim the gospel and show what the Scriptures say?
I have people in my life that are lost. I want them to find the light of the world. How can I love them and at the same time, expose the evil?
“For God so loved the world.”
People will be angered if I speak out.
“In the world, you shall have tribulations, but I have overcome the world.”
What is my role?
Obedience, with love. That is my role.
How? How do I love and yet stand firm?
“Jesus is the answer, for the world today – without Him there’s no other, Jesus is the way” rings the old song of my youth.
I have a responsibility in this life. How will I go about it? How will I show the world that Jesus is the way?
Lay down and be quiet?
Or proclaim the truth – IN LOVE? I’m so convicted.
We are not of this world. We are in it, but we are not of it.
“Jesus loves the little children of the world – Jesus died for all the children of the world.”
Jesus, let me be the light, the love, the gospel to this fallen world.
And please – don’t let me grow a mustache.
“Ye are the light of the world, a city on a hill cannot be hidden.”
“Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel, and lo, I am with you always – even until the ends of the earth.”
STOP
OH GIGI I COULD NOT LOVE THIS MORE. I have had tolerance right up to my eyebrows. There is a PLUMB LINE – a standard clearly stated in Scripture. It is in the balancing of love and truth….Let's pray for one another. FMF #41
Beautifully said! You have hit the nail on the head. Do we respond by stuffing our opinions or proclaiming the truth? I agree, whatever we choose to do, must be done in love!
I am so goofy – You aren't GIGI – You are Ruthie Gray!!!!!!
Susan LOL I just thought you were referring to my granny role that I write about! I AM GiGi, that's what Sawyer calls me! So you're good! 🙂
Thanks, Susan. YES. A plumb line. Our lives measured my the Scripture, to glorify GOD and not ourselves, no matter the outcome. Thank you, friend!
Thank you for your voice, Erin. We must not lose sight of the most important thing – Christ's death, burial, and resurrection so that we may have LIFE, and have it more abundantly!
Ruthie,
I think we had the same thoughts. What to say, what not to say. 🙂 And I have found that my "stache" is actually sun-caused. I waxed my upper lip and still had a tan I did not want, ha ha ha! So, more sunscreen please.
God placed us here and now and with desire to speak on His behalf. I have heard speeches on His behalf that don't line up with His word, so abrasive and harsh. He is Holy and Just, very true. The balance comes from our listening ears.
Hope you can read mine as well. I'm #5 on the linkup.
Love,
Tammy

Oh yes, Lord, don't let me grow a moustache either!!! 🙂 Thanks for this thoughtful post, Ruthie. It's a confusing world we live in, isn't it? But we still have an awesome, wonderful God!
Yes, we do, Betsy. Thanks for the visit, we're in the "no mustache club for life"!
Oh Tammy, how funny! A sun induced mustache!
And YES. We must respond with the truth in LOVE – not bashing over the head, that doesn't accomplish anything!
I visited and commented on your blog. Thanks for stopping by!
Ruthie, so good. This whole Bruce Jenner thing, for example, has me between Satan and our Lord. I know what the truth is, I know where I stand on this subject, and all is well. Satan is toying with my intellect when it comes to the tolerance and acceptance part. Especially in today's world when everything is picked apart as some sort of negativity from Christians or conservatives. I am not afraid to say, again, Bruce as the example, God created him a man, he is a man, the rest is his choice. Yet, we must have love for him because that same God created him in His image. It's man that wants to change that image. So confusing for this next generation of children if they don't know the truth of what scripture says. Rambling, I know, anyways, great thoughts on this and always good to read your stuff.
Yes, these kinds of hot topics are getting harder and harder. I don't usually take on these subjects, but when I saw the word "world" as the topic, my mind went this direction. Yes, "God created man in His image. Male and female He created them" Genesis 1:27. We are trying to play God just like the Tower of Babel situation. It's madness, and yet, I have people I love who aren't of the same persuasion. Therefore, I must be careful to let them know that my love for them is unconditional, yet I must follow Christ. Tough subject, but thanks, as always, for your support and comment!
I think showing the love of Christ and sharing that real love is the place to begin. I am praying more also. I see evil prevailing. Jesus said it would be like this in the end times. How do reach the lost? Truth and love just as you stated in your piece.
Hi Mary! And yes – truth and love. And it is the fulfillment of Christ's words. We are to be wise as serpents yet harmless as doves. I pray I will be that person for Christ.
