It’s time for “Five Minute Friday” over on Katemotaung’s blog, “Heading Home”! Set the timer, write for five minutes, and post! Today’s word prompt: Yes.
GO.
“Lord, please lead me to my soul mate – the one fit for me!”
And God said, “Yes”.
“Lord, I want a big family, lots of kids!”
And God said, “Yes.”
“Please, God, let all my kids be born healthy.”
He said, “Yes” again.
“I need a house for all these kids!”
“Yes.”
“Help me rear them to love the Lord and make wise choices when they leave the nest.”
“Yes.”
“Please let my grandson be born healthy, give a safe delivery.”
“Yes.”
“Please, God, deliver my parents from their sudden and drastic health issues and restore them so we can have them around for many more years.”
“Yes.”
Should I go on?
We focus on the “no” so many times, we fail to take a step back and assess all the “yeses” in our lives!
Sawyer (number one grandson) started out saying, “Yesh”. Then, it was “Yes”.
Now, it’s, “I know”.
I’m thinking his mother says, “Yeah, I know” a lot. (Actually, I KNOW she does.)
And it would seem that when I asked for all those things, God’s “yes” was really, “I know.”
He knew the desires of my heart, and He did not deny me those deep desires.
So in the pettiness of my everyday life, when I’m frustrated with all those little roadblocks and “no” answers –
I’m going to focus on God’s, “Yes, I know.”
It’s a freeing concept because ~
YES. I’m blessed.
STOP.
“Oh Lord, how manifold are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all.” ~Psalm 104:24a
What a wonderful reminder to focus on gratitude and recognize ALL GOD HAS DONE rather than magnify the little things that don’t go as we hope. Loved your reflection on “yes.” #fmfparty
Hi Betsy! Ah, He has done so much for me. And yet, daily I struggle wondering why this and why not that? Silly me. I’m so glad God brought YOU into my life, sweet friend! I wish we could meet someday! 🙂
Loved all your yeses, Ruthie. And the truth that God—in saying yes—is also saying, “I know (dear one).” Thankfully He knows our needs and our desires, and He fulfills the ones He knows are for our best. And yes, that “I know”? I hear that from my boys too. That pre-teen/almost teen thirst for independence shows itself through those two little words, I’m thinking. 🙂
Yes, DEFINITELY an independence indicator! Hang on, Jeanne, you’re in for a wild ride – but so, SO fun!! Enjoy!
Yes what a great reminder. And so much THIS: “He knew the desires of my heart, and He did not deny me those deep desires.” Parked in the 15 spot.
It’s true. When I took a step back to look at all I wish would happen and all I truly wanted in life, I realized I had it all! Praying for you, Tara!
This is beautiful! And you’re so right–all too often we think about our ‘yes’ to God and forget about all the times he says ‘Yes!’ to us. Countless times.
Yes He does! I love hearing about your ministry too, Anita! Your story was special. 🙂
Lots of reminders today about remembering God’s yes’s. Guess there’s a lot of us that need it 🙂
Hi friend! I was looking for you today – headed over to read about your “yes”!
Yes! Even in the most difficult times of my life…. So many daily blessings. Thanks, Ruthie!
You’ve had some truly tough times, lady. I won’t ever forget that. Love hearing from you often! Let me know how it’s going – praying for you!
What a good truth and great perspective. How easily we focus on the ‘no’ when He has said so many ‘yes’s. And you are right… He knows! He knows what is best and when we trust Him with our obedience we always see the blessing! Thanks for such good words of truth! Happy Friday to you!
So good to see you today, Rachel! God knows. He gives us just what we need, whether it’s what we had in mind or not. When we all get to heaven, we will have a good laugh over our “no’s” and what we THOUGHT we needed! 🙂
Aren’t we so incredibly blessed? Have a great weekend. YSFAM
Yes we are, Mimi. I’m so very thankful! Enjoy your weekend too, my friend.
Ruthie, so many blessings to count! How great to record all these yeses. What a picture of God’s faithfulness. And it’s so good for me to remember, too, that even in the no’s, our God is good. Bless you!
Yes, He is surely good, Ashley! I tend to zero in on those “no’s” but last week’s prompt really helped me to step back and assess my blessings! Thanks for your words, and for stopping by!
